Explanation of the point

Honeycomb stitch is created by combining knit stitches, purl stitches, and slipped stitches. The pattern resembles a beehive, hence its name.

Honeycomb stitch in flat knitting

To knit the Honeycomb stitch flat, you will need a number of stitches that is a multiple of 8.



Follow these steps:

  1. Knit 2 stitches.
  2. On the wrong side of the work, slip 4 stitches as if you were purling them.
  3. Knit 2 stitches.
  4. Repeat these steps until the end of the row.

Honeycomb Stitch Knitting in the Round

To knit the Honeycomb stitch in the round, you will need a number of stitches that is a multiple of 6. Follow these steps:



Rows 1 - 2: Using C1, knit. (14 sts)
Line 3: Use C2, k2, sl wyib × 2, k6, sl
wyib × 2, k2.
Line 4: Use C2, p2, sl wyif × 2, p6, sl wyif
× 2, p2.
Lines 5 - 8: Repeat lines 3 - 4.
Rows 9 - 10: Repeat rounds 1 - 2.
